DFW/Houston online radio effort begins

The first month of an online radio campaign is underway in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston markets. Foundation spots run on several stations owned in each market by CBS Radio. Ads run for four weeks, every other month. In the "off" months, follow-up surveys determine changes in public attitudes on key issues and gauge the ads' effectiveness. Ads again stress how producers drill most Texas wells and contribute significantly to the Texas economy, that technology safeguards the environment and that natural gas is a great asset to the nation.

The Foundation completed its four-week Public Education Media Campaign in East-Central Texas on Jan. 17. Newspaper ads ran for four weeks in the Waco and Bryan-College Station newspapers. Radio ads were featured on stations in Waco, Temple, College Station and Brenham, including the flagship stations for Texas Aggie and Baylor Bear sports. A follow-up survey of public attitudes on issues affecting independent oil and gas producers has been finished. Results are being compared with results from a survey conducted before the campaign.

Our Mission

Fox News' John Stossel Debunks Oil Myth

In a report that he did while still at ABC’s 20/20, Fox anchor John Stossel shot down the myth that the world is running out of oil. Using interviews with industry experts, Stossel shows how plenty of oil is left to develop.

Animations show industry operations

To provide information on industry operations to the general public, the Foundation's Citizen Partnership program has acquired four animation videos. They show various facets of oil and natural gas drilling and production. The first, an overview of drilling fundamentals, can be viewed on the screen above. Additional animations, as well as videos on other subjects, are available by clicking on the "Citizen Partnership / Multimedia" menu item.

Foundation sends MOLU to Abilene

Abilene fifth-graders enjoyed using the MOLU to learn about oil and gas

In partnership with the Offshore Energy Center (OEC), the Foundation recently sponsored a week-long visit of OEC’s Mobile Offshore Learning Unit (MOLU) to five schools in the Abilene, TX, area. At least 500 students used the MOLU to gain knowledge of geology and oil and gas operations. Students and teachers were very enthusiastic (see sign above). Abilene was the first of six MOLU visits to Texas schools planned for 2010. For more info on the MOLU and related teaching kits, click on "Education in the Classroom."
